E. Bruce StrayhornE. Bruce Strayhorn

Edwin Bruce Strayhorn is a fifth generation Floridian, born and raised in Fort Myers, Florida. He graduated from Fort Myers High School and Stetson University with an undergraduate degree in 1974. He received his Juris Doctorate from Stetson College of Law in 1977. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1977, as well as the United States District Court, both Southern and Middle Districts.

During his early career, Mr. Strayhorn served as Special Assistant State Attorney for the Twelfth Judicial Circuit and later the Twentieth Judicial Circuit.

Mr. Strayhorn is a partner in the firm of Strayhorn & Strayhorn, P.L., which was established in 1915 in the City of Fort Myers. It is the oldest law firm in the city.

Mr. Strayhorn has served as a member of the Fort Myers Housing Authority since 1988. He has served as President of the Metropolitan Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce. He was a founding director of Gulf & Southern Financial Corporation and the National Bank of Lee County, later SouthTrust Bank. Mr. Strayhorn presently serves as founding director of Commerce Bank of Southwest Florida.

Mr. Strayhorn has served as Chairman and Member of the Lee County Industrial Authority and as secretary/director of Lee Memorial Hospital, Inc. He has served as Chairman of the Lee County Public School Foundation. He has served as Senator Graham's representative to the United States Senate Right-of-Way Acquisition Committee for the United States Senate.

Mr. Strayhorn is actively involved in the practice in the City of Fort Myers where he continues to serve on the board of numerous local civic organizations.
