HUD allocated $1.93 billion on a competitive basis to states, local governments, and non profit organizations. No funding has been awarded for NSP 2 at this time. Applications are still in the process of being evaluated.

As the lead applicant Housing Authority of the City of Fort Myers partnered with the Lee County Board of County Commissioners and the City of Fort Myers to apply for this funding. Together this consortium has applied for $30,093,750 in federal funding to stabilize targeted neighborhoods in the City of Fort Myers and surrounding communities. The purpose of this funding is to decrease the adverse effects of foreclosed and abandoned properties. Following is a list of activities intended for the use of these funds: $12,256,250 for acquisition of foreclosed or abandoned property, $375,000 to demolish blighted structure, and $15,000,000 to be used for redevelopment of demolished or vacant property for housing, and $2,462,500 for administration of grant activities.

NSP2 funds have not been allocated at this time.
