The Future Forward Scholarship Program supports students living in The Housing Authority of the City of Fort Myers and SWFL Housing Foundation communities to achieve their educational and career goals.
Whether it is college, university, or vocational education, we’re here to support you as you take the next step.
There is an application and selection process, and while we encourage everyone to apply, awards are not guaranteed.
Scholarship Highlights:
- Up to $2,500 scholarship per student
- Recognizes academic achievement, leadership, and community engagement.
- Supports educational and career pathways for local students.
Applying for the Future Forward Scholarship
Eligibility for the Future Forward Scholarship is based on:
- Residents of communities owned or managed by the Housing Authority of the City of Fort Myers or Southwest Florida Affordable Housing Foundation, or receiving rental assistance from the Housing Choice Voucher Program.
- High school seniors or recent graduates pursuing higher education.
- Students with a strong background in academics, leadership, and community involvement.
The application window opens on January 15, 2026, and applications are accepted through April 15, 2026.
Scholarship awardees will be announced on May 15, 2026.
Applications are submitted online. Required materials include:
- Cover letter outlining why you feel you should receive the scholarship.
- Transcripts from the most recent school semester.
- At least two letters of recommendation (teacher, community leader, mentor, employer, etc.).
